Review
This is my first Margaret Atwood novel and I've been meaning to read her for some time. O&C was not exactly what I expected but it was really, really good. The protagonist Snowman/Jimmy is a bystander to the end or the world but intimately tied up in Great Things. The book has a pretty limited cast and he is not the most interesting of them but he functions well as something of a straight man for events to flow around. What I find really odd about the book is that it's a trilogy. Reading the book the entire way through I felt like this seemed a complete story. And I think it more or less is. I'm going to read the next in the series but I'm certainly interested to see the 'why' of more books. This book left some important questions unanswered, but I don't think those questions would be easy to answer or are really questions I feel need answering. I hope I like the next two books as much but I guess I'll just have to see.
